It’s time to think about volunteering for our BIGGEST volunteer event – the SHOOTOUT at Captain Ron’s! Last year our volunteers helped raise a lot of money for the CBFA.  It’s a great way to meet your neighbors & help finance our ALL VOLUNTEER Fire Department.

As we approach the Memorial Day weekend, I’d like to take a moment to remind you all about the importance of safety, particularly when it comes to outdoor fires. It’s been a dry period, and the risk of wildfires is elevated. We can all do our part to keep our community safe and enjoy the holiday weekend without any mishaps.

Constant Supervision: Whether you’re having a small bonfire or burning off some yard debris, never leave any fire unattended. Fires can spread quickly, and the earlier you spot a problem, the easier it will be to control.

Be Prepared: Make sure you have fire extinguishing equipment nearby and ready to use. This could be a garden hose, a fire extinguisher, a rake to smother the fire, or a blower to clear away flammable materials. Preparation is key in preventing a small fire from becoming a big problem.

Time Your Burns: The best time to burn is in the morning when temperatures are cooler, and the grass is still damp with dew. These conditions can help prevent the fire from spreading.

Keep Us Informed: If you’re planning to burn ground cover or anything sizeable, please call us beforehand at 573-346-3262. This will help us be better prepared in case something does go awry and allows us to monitor fire risk conditions more effectively.

Lastly, let’s all take a moment this Memorial Day weekend to remember those who have served and sacrificed for our country. It’s our responsibility to keep our community safe so their sacrifices were not in vain.

Enjoy the weekend, have fun, and stay safe! Let’s watch out for each other and make sure our Memorial Day weekend is remembered for all the right reasons.

Residents within our area have suggested reestablishing a neighborhood watch.

The first meeting was on September 6^th.  This meeting was to consider the next steps to restore the neighborhood watch.

This involves looking after each other, for example, keeping “an eye” on each other’s houses especially when neighbors are away or on vacation.

We are having a meeting on Saturday October 1st. at 10am at fire station one (The Main Station). If you are interested in finding out more and sharing your ideas please join us.  We need your help.
